SCH Staff Holiday Gathering

Every year, our company gets together after the holidays with employees and their significant others to celebrate another year of working together as a team. This year, we had the pleasure of having our event at Long Road Distillers, where we enjoyed fabulous food (emphasis on *fabulous* – if you haven’t been yet, please GO! It’s delicious.), artisanal beverages, as well as an educational tour of the distillery. We learned about their process, their locally sourced ingredients that create spirits proudly MADE IN MICHIGAN, and the fact that it happens to be the very first distillery in the history of Grand Rapids. You learn something new every day!

Much of our team has been working together for many years, and this year we celebrated longevity milestones for several of our staff members: Jake Samlow – 5 years, Drew Terwee – 10 years, Matt Nevins – 15 years, Bryce Flint – 15 years, Tom Peterson – 25 years.

We look back on 2019 with grateful hearts — thankful for every client who trusted us, every industry partner who worked alongside us, every unique and amazing project we started, forged ahead and/or finished last year, and all of the other amazing opportunities Scott Christopher Homes was given which allow our staff to do the work we LOVE everyday. Cheers to a wonderful year ahead!

ArtPrize 8

ArtPrize is in full swing!  In preparation for the eighth year of this delightfully diverse art competition, Scott Christopher Homes has been hard at work behind the scenes.  You may have seen information kiosks around ArtPrize last year, which we had the unique pleasure of constructing.  After a few modifications and a new color scheme, we installed the new and improved kiosks in four spots around Grand Rapids.  You’ll find one in front of the entrance to Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, one in front of DeVos Place, one on Monroe Center in front of the Art Museum and one on Rumsey Street, adjacent this year’s SiTE:LAB venue.  ArtPrize volunteers will be staffing these kiosks to provide ArtPrize-goers with information and answers to any questions they may have along the way.

Scott Christopher Homes also worked with ArtPrize and Via Design on revamping the new location of the ArtPrize Artists’ Clubhouse with a custom built bar serving as the main information desk, the installation of functional room dividers, as well as paint and drywall work providing the backdrop for unique installations by Clubhouse sponsor Wolverine Worldwide.

We also worked on the Learning Lab Experience at ArtPrize’s main HUB.  The room got a bit of a facelift and we installed TVs throughout, where ArtPrize attendees can test out Tilt Brush, a virtual painting experience, Code.org, an online coding program, and Planet3, an immersive game-based platform that explores the planet’s history and future.

It is truly our pleasure to partner each year with an organization that turns the city we love into the stunning backdrop for dazzling paintings, fascinating sculptures and an overall experience that hundreds of thousands of visitors come from near and far to discover.  For the eighth year in a row, this event will not disappoint, so be sure to check it out between now and October 9.  Enjoy!

One Wild Night 2016 | ArtPrize 8

We had the pleasure of partnering with ArtPrize again this year to host their annual kick-off event – ONE WILD NIGHT. It took place on the grounds of one of our favorite lakefront projects, Lakeside Chic.  The delightful fare was as good as it looked, courtesy of Chef Steve at Mr. Eat Right and Doorganics, with some amazing sweet treats by Cakabakery and refreshments by The Crushed Grape. We got a little taste of what is to come during ArtPrize 8, as artist Joey Ruiter displayed his stunningly creative sculptures throughout the property. There wasn’t a dull moment as guests and hosts alike were entertained by a stunt water skiing group, an opera singer and fire dancers. It truly was one wild night! Peruse through a few photos from the evening, as captured by the talented Amy Carroll Photography.

Scott Christopher Homes Opens New Office in Pentwater

PENTWATER, Mich. – Scott Christopher Homes, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based builder of some of Michigan’s finest homes, has opened a new office in the northern Michigan village of Pentwater targeting renovation work but also offering new builds for its clients.

The homebuilder will hold an open house at the new office, located at 144 Hancock Street, from 5–8 p.m. on Friday, May 30, during one of the village’s monthly Gallery Strolls. Visitors are invited to stop by, check out the space, and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine.

The Oceana County office opened for business in late May, says Drew Terwee, client development specialist at Scott Christopher Homes.

“We have a lot of our past clients doing work in that area along with a demand for our services by clients in that area,” he says. “It seems that our services and professionalism is a resource that would fit well in that area and up and down the lakeshore from there.”

For more that 30 years, Scott Christopher Homes has specialized in building and renovating amazing lakefront homes and cottages throughout Michigan, from the border to the bridge.

“We have assembled a vast network of talented and dedicated artisans, craftsmen, and laborers, while perfecting flexible and efficient construction systems,” Terwee says. “We partner with architects, residential designers, and homeowners to forge a seamless building process that allows for the possibility of on-site fine tuning and architectural tweaking as each home takes shape.

“We complete the work on our homes on time and on budget, with the quality of workmanship and the attention to detail that our clients have come to expect for the past three decades.”

Initially, there will be a representative at the new office during different hours, but an appointment can be arranged for anytime by contacting client development specialist, Ron Rutkowski at (231) 241-1000.

“It will be a great place to meet to discuss their projects, and it will allow us to showcase our work so our clients have a good understanding of what we have to offer,” Terwee says.

Bark Prize

Scott Christopher Homes along with J. Visser Design and many great sponsors recently participated in Bark Prize, a fundraiser organized by the Bissell Pet Foundation.
